We are not LOST IN THE WOODS any more......
Remember back in the day when
FLW was wilderness and insects and it was either blazing
hot or freezing cold? Nothing to do but eat, sleep and
work. Well, those days are over.
FLW has now become the largest training installation in
North America, training all branches of the military
including the Coast Guard and National Guard. There is
also one of the largest contingents of foreign soldiers
training world-wide. A large part of the change is due to
the additions of the Military Police and Chemical Warfare
schools, added to the existing Army Engineer school. These
changes include state-of-the-art barracks facilities,
virtual training simulators, award-winning mess halls and
a museum complex representing the history of the three
schools adjacent to the WWII restoration area, which you
may have experienced first hand!! Off Post has changed
dramatically as well. Pulaski County offers over 20
lodging facilities including bed and breakfasts, motels
and some of the largest national chains known. Choose from
over 1,300 sleeping rooms. There are also over 70
restaurants offering many diverse ethnic foods, national
brands and hometown flavor from Asian, German, Mexican and
lip-smacking BBQ.
Bring your next
reunion home. Let the Pulaski County Tourism
Bureau help you make your next reunion the one they talk
about for years. The staff at the Pulaski County Tourism
Bureau can assist you with all of your planning needs.
Airport information, transportation assistance, room
negotiations, tours and meals on FLW and much more.
Because of FLW's
central location, there are several popular day trips that
can be arranged, including shopping at Lake of the Ozarks,
a visit to Bass Pro headquarters, or even a day trip to
Branson. Closer to home, enjoy a trip to the local
wineries in the St. James wine region, or better yet, let
one of the wineries host your welcome reception with wine
and hors d'oeuvres or
take a tour of the Route 66 museum in Lebanon. Golf, trout
fishing and other outdoor activities are also available.
The Pulaski
County Tourism Bureau staff is trained to assist you with
all of your reunion planning needs and best of all, our
services are free. For additional information call
877.858.8687.
So come
on See the new Fort Leonard Wood... This time they
